Baby Jogger is one of the first major brands to design and manufacture jogging strollers like we envision today. They are pioneers in the industry and their strollers continue to be some of the most popular strollers for sale today.
Baby Jogger has a whole host of strollers in their lineup now including the extremely popular City Mini, City Mini GT, City Versa, City Elite, and City Select strollers.
They also have some subspecialty strollers such as their special needs pushchairs and their Pod stroller which can be used for either jogging or as a bike trailer.
I like to focus on actual jogging strollers though so you will find a short list of their main jogging strollers below. Some are more true to jogging than others but not everyone needs a stroller designed for competition road races either.
The Best Jogging Strollers Currently Made By Baby Jogger
The Baby Jogger F.I.T. Stroller
The F.I.T. stroller is the lightweight, fixed-wheel jogging stroller that is simply designed to be an excellent jogger.
This stroller doesn’t try to do too many things. It’s not all-terrain. It’s not a swivel-wheel stroller. It’s a jogger meant to perform well for avid runner moms and dads.
The F.I.T stroller is rugged however. It can hold kids up to 75lbs and offers more head room and width than other top joggers and it’s large pneumatic wheels make jogging very easy.
Weighing in at 25 lbs it’s definately light enough to make running a bit easier… so long as you don’t have a 70 pound four year old in the seat.
Like some of the other strollers on this page I’ve never owned this stroller so I can’t speak from experience about what I like and don’t like about it. I think I would really like the focus of this jogger – it’s a lightweight jogging stroller that is perfect for jogging. I don’t think I’d be tempted to make this the only stroller in my garage.
The Baby Jogger Summit XC Stroller
The Summit XC stroller is a lot like the F.I.T. stroller except that it is a bit more versatile. It is designed to be a quality jogger but also give a parent a few more options for use.
Notably the front wheel is a swivel wheel making this a much better stroller for everyday use in the mall or for whatever. The swivel wheel makes for casual use easier because the stroller is easier to turn.
If you want to use the Summit XC for jogging however the front wheel can lock into “straight” position making it much easier to handle while jogging in straight (or near straight) lines.
Like the F.I.T. it can hold bigger kids than many competitor’s strollers and it has the really great wheels, tires, and brakes as well as the super-special Baby Jogger quick-fold. It’s slightly heavier than the FIT at 26 lbs too so the weight difference should matter a whole lot.
This review of the stroller by Patricia L. New over on Amazon has been voted the most helpful to parents. Patricia likes the BOB Revolution over this stroller but she has a lot of good information to give. The product page can be found here.
A couple smaller shops selling this stroller include Wayfair.com and Stroller Depot. Make sure to support independents as much as you can if you are going to shop. Amazon is great and all but the mom’s and pop’s of the world (myself included) make the economy hum.
The Baby Jogger POD Stroller
The POD stroller is a really cool stroller in my opinion. I do not own the stroller but have been lusting after it for a few weeks now. I like walking, hiking, and running but lately have been thinking about maybe getting on a bike. I hadn’t thought about it as an option until I started really considering the possabilities of the POD.
The POD is basically a pod shaped carriage. It has a bench seat and can hold two each with a five point harness. The stroller is fully enclosed so it can go fast and keep the bugs out and the POD has two different conversion kits (one to make it a jogger and one to make it a trailer) giving it a lot of flexability in use.
The back tires are big 20 inch tires with hand operated drum brakes (for joggers) making it ideal for control while jogging. It can seat one or two kids too which I think is also great. Retail price is somewhere about $500 but on occasion it can be found cheaper during nice sales or online cash back deals.
You do have to also buy the conversion kit for either jogging and running which is a bummer but a necessary evil in my opinion.
Older Models Which Are Great For Jogging
Baby Jogger has a few other strollers which aren’t really “current”. If you can find them in good condition used or new from a retailer that has old stock then they are quality items that were once the best made.
The Baby Jogger Performance Series Strollers
These were a 25th anniversary stroller which were designed to be a truly high performance jogging or running stroller.
They are somewhat hard to find now but if you can find one they are going to be good for running at the very least.
These Compared To The Other Brands
The POD is definitely an awesome stroller even though I haven’t actually owned the thing. It is a single or double stroller and can either be a high quality jogger or a bike trailer. Awesome. I’ll be adding this to my favorite double jogging strollers post. On that page you can see some of my favorites in this category from other brands to help give you some more information and help you decide which stroller is right for you and your family.
I’ve also added the F.I.T. stroller to my list of favorite lightweight jogging strollers and my list of favorite fixed front wheel joggers. It’s basically one of my favorite joggers so far and it’s not priced too high in my opinion either. Take a look at either of those pages for a few other favorites of mine.
